Dilworth is a neighborhood of Charlotte developed in the 1890’s on 250 acres by Edward Dilworth Latta. Dilworth was born out of the powerful impact that the newly minted streetcar had on Charlotte’s original four ward neighborhood.
The streets of Dilworth are mostly made up of bungalows and feature stately oaks, sidewalks, and houses with front porches. You too, will find the occasional Queene Anne and some larger homes with the recent development and influx of energy into the community. The main thoroughfare is East Boulevard lined with quaint shops, restaurants, offices, many located in renovated homes. Also, Charlotte’s largest hospital is located in Dilworth, Carolinas Medical Center.
Much of Dilworth is on the National Register of Historic Places. Dilworth is located within walking distance of Myers Park, South End, and Uptown Charlotte. You may spot Matthew Paul Brown walking his Golden Retriever, Sterling or biking the streets of Dilworth. One of his favorite spots for an afternoon drink and appetizer is Bakersfield on East Boulevard.
